Thematic Map



Thematic maps are a type of map or chart designed to show a particular theme connected with a specific geographic area. This Thematic maps is a color coded maps where different colors represent differences in the amount of crime in different jurisdictions. The following thematic map from Vermont Crime On-Line (VCON) depicts differences in overall reported crime by county. Counties with a lower number of crime incidents are depicted in blue while counties with a higher number of crimes are depicted in red. What makes this map a Thematic map is that it shows a particular theme (Crime) as related to a particular subject (Vermont).
